"Single-Line Contour" LXXV Summer 2023 as a debut collection focuses on the importance of practice and highlights a Single-Line blind contour diagram as an exercise in which the creator must put pen to paper to accurately capture their surroundings with a single line without looking down at the work. The idea of this practice targets the difference in what we see versus what we think we see where trust in one's natural ability must be built. Without looking at the paper or the hand and only the end goal, the artist is challenged by his natrual urge to stop and think/ fix and dwell on any mistakes made. The single score starts at one point and ends at another. Start to finish with no pauses or hesitations. Focus only on what you lies ahead, only then can you revisit the piece as a whole to correct the errors and move on to the next.
